Tennis - Dominic Thiem: ´It is a dream come true to beat the greatest player on clay´

'It does not happen anything, you keep going on'. This way Rafael Nadal replies when gets asked if he is worried after the loss against Dominic Thiem by 6-4 4-6 7-6(4). Rafa takes the positives from this tough match.

'I am not worried because I have not played bad today, I did good things and I played some winners. Maybe I had to make less unforced errors, especially with the forehand. I lacked of consistency. I think I had more chances than him to win the match, it just lacked one point. Thiem played a winner on the line on the match point. Then on 5-4 in the third anything can happen'.

'It's too early to make an assessment. Today I was in the position to play another final, I played the first final of the year in Doha and (today) I did not succeed. I go to Rio with the goal to improve and to reach it there'.

Then Nadal is back to speak about the Argentinean heat: 'I could reach the semifinals, but I am struggling to adapt to the extreme conditions. I felt more tired than usual, maybe because of this I lacked of continuity. I know in Rio it'll not be better, so I'll need to keep adapting.'

Dominic Thiem is over the moon: 'It is a dream come true to beat the greatest player on clay. He is a legend of tennis, one of the best of all time. It's something really special to play against these big guys. Beating him, for me, it's really a dream. You have to be aggressive against [Nadal] because once you make mistakes the chance to win the point is, like, zero.'

Thiem is inspired by no one in particular: 'I don't have any idol on the Tour. When I was a kid I used to analyze all the players to take out the best from each of them'.
