American is ranked 98th in the world

American Michael Russell became the first ATP Tour pro to complete his undergraduate degree from the University of Phoenix in collaboration with the ATP scholarship program. Russell earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree, graduating with Honors by achieving a 3.94 grade point average (4.0 scale).

"I am extremely happy and proud to have completed my undergraduate degree," Russell told ATPWorldTour.com

"I first attended college at the University of Miami in 1996 and I always had the goal of one day completing my degree. I thank the ATP and the University of Phoenix for giving me the opportunity to fulfill my lifelong objective of attaining a University degree. I also want to thank my wife and family for their help and support. I spent the last three years maximising my time management skills as I completed my education simultaneously while competing on the ATP World Tour, which was very difficult. I look forward to using the skills and knowledge from acquiring my degree in the years to come."
