In an exclusive interview with The Tennis Space, guru of the tennis world, Nick Bollettieri, analyzes the situation in view of the upcoming U.S. Open, saying that in his opinion Serena Williams is the strongest tennis player in history.
"She will be one of the favorites for Flushing Meadows but we must realize that it is played in two weeks and that all the players will give it their all if they face defeat. Serena has a tendency to start slow and then melt with the progress of the games. When she makes this play, Williams is the best in the history of the sport.”
On Venus, however: "She has restarted finding a good feeling. Her future will depend not only her health, but her hunger for victory."
Bollettieri also makes the point on the men's circuit:
"Murray is in the best time of his career, winning in London helped to convince him that he can beat big. Nevertheless, we must understand how he is physically, given the setback to Cincinnati. Federer? He’s a rare athlete, both technically and mentally and he is one of the few players in the history of the game that can put aside downtimes in a match and come back to win.”
In addition, Bollettieri discusses how his coach has implemented some changes to his backhand, making it more aggressive. Nick continues:
"Djokovic is the most complete of the tour, he will be one of the favorites. The same goes for Del Potro, but the recent problems with the left wrist could jeopardize his way too early."
