WTA Sydney- Kuznetsova to play qualifying in Sydney

Oudin, Lisicki, Date-Krumm and McHale also in qualies draw

Former world no. 2 and two time major winner Svetlana Kuznetsova will attempt to qualify for the WTA Apia International event in Sydney by playing the qualifying draw.

The former US and French Open champion is down no. 71 in the rankings after an injury plagued season

Other big named in the qualifying draw include rising American Christina McHale, ranked No.33. World No.37 Sabine Lisicki, a Wimbledon semifinalist, Former US Open quarterfinalist Melanie Oudin, 42-year-old Kimiko Date-Krumm and Australian Casey Dellacqua.

Tournament Director Craig Watson commented, “Having such talented and accomplished players including Kuznetsova, Lisicki, McHale and Oudin as part of our qualifying draw highlights the strength of the Sydney field this year. There will be some great tennis action during qualifying January 4th and 5th as 29 top 100 players compete for coveted main draw spots.”

Six players will go through from the qualifying draw into the main draw for the WTA Premier event
