Julien Benneteau is denied an ATP title for the 8th time in his career

The opening set, which Del Potro won, consisted of 4 breaks of serve. Benneteau was the first man to get a break but quickly afterwards, the Argentine led most of the set by breaking his opponent twice. The Frenchman saved 2 set points in the 9th game before getting back on serve after 10 games played. Despite his efforts, he lost the tie break 6(2)-7.

The roles were reversed when Del Potro had momentum on his side early in the second set. He got an early break of serve and was in a commanding position when he led 4-1. Both men served fairly well throughout the match, while Del Potro got the better of Benneteau during their baseline exchanges. Benneteau had all to do when serving at 2-5 to stay in the match. His fighting attitude was undoubtedly obvious after saving 4 match points, leaving the tournament"s number 2 seed to get the job done on his own serve. Del Potro finally won after firing his 13th ace.

Del Potro won 7-6(2) 6-3.
