Tennis - Ann Haydon-Jones speaks on Caroline Wozniacki´s grand slam aspirations

Tennis - A former multiple grand slam champion is not so sure that Denmark's Caroline Wozniacki has the game to win a slam herself.

74 year old Ann Haydon-Jones, who won seven grand slam titles in her hey days, spoke about the former top ranked Dane in an interview to the Daily Mail.

Haydon Jones commented, "Maybe she feels she can’t win the Grand Slams.  Maybe she accepts that she can’t and wants fame in a different direction. I think she probably would like to win a Grand Slam but I’m not sure she’s good enough. ‘

Wozniacki was the no. 1 player in the world in 2010 and 2011 but did not win a grand slam during that time and has reached only one grand slam final yet. She has dropped to no. 9 in the rankings currently and is more in the news for her romance with golfing superstar Rory McIlroy.

The Dane has often been criticized for being too defensive in her playing approach. She has tried swtiching coaches several times in the past couple of years but has once again gone back to working with her father, Piotr.
