Tennis - There was a Swiss champion on the ATP Tour on Sunday but it was not Roger Federer. While Federer went down to Lleyton Hewitt in the Brisbane finals, it was his compatriot Stanislas Wawrinka who came away with a title in Chennai.
Wawrinka, the top seed at this ATP 250 series event, scored a 7-5, 6-2 win over Frenchman Edouard Roger-Vasselin to win his second Chennai title, having won here in 2011. Speaking after the win, Wawrinka commented, "I was really happy with the way I was playing.
In the end I think I served well and played aggressive. Edouard is a tough player to beat. I lost against him last year in Basel. He was playing really good this week. I need to keep practising and keep going for the rest of the year because it's only one week.
I need to keep pushing myself to try to improve." This was Wawrinka's fifth career singles title. .
