Juan Martin del Potro finalized his Calendar for the last part of the 2017 season. The Argentine player took a wild card to play ATP 500 Beijing which starts on October 2. He joins great players like Rafael Nadal, Alexander Zverev, Grigor Dimitrov or Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the field.
It will be the first appearance at the China Open for the 28-year-old, who always played Tokyo in most of the years during that week. Then he will play Shanghai, where in 2013 he reached the final, Stockholm where he will be the defending Champion, Basel where he won in 2012 and 2013, Paris Bercy and eventually ATP Finals in London.
He is 24th in the ATP Race with 1,580 points, but he is not so far away from making it into the last event of the year, as at the moment the No. 10 Sam Querrey would be the last to enter, and the American has 2.435 points, just 855 point difference.
Of course winning a Masters 1000 title would give him many chances to play Finals event for the fifth time in his career, after playing in 2013, 2012, 2009 (when he reached the final) and 2008. Del Potro is coming from his great run at the US Open where he beat Dominic Thiem and Roger Federer before losing to the future winner Rafael Nadal in four sets.
