Czech tennis player Tomas Berdych has withdrawn from next week's Shenzhen Open. The 32-year-old was set to make his third consecutive appearance at the event. The world No. 20 went all the way in Shenzhen in 2015 and 2016. Berdych last played at Flushing Meadows, where he surprisingly fell short in the US Open second-round to Ukraine's Aleksandr Dolgopolov.
Two-time Shenzhen champion Berdych has yet to win a title this season. Meanwhile, Germany's Philipp Kohlschreiber has also been forced to pull out of Shenzhen. The German was set to debut at the Chinese event next week.
Kohlschreiber reached the last-16 at this week's St. Petersburg Open, before he pulled out before his clash against Latvia's Ricardas Berankis. The Shenzhen event marks the beginning of the Asian swing. The tournament is set to held from 25 September - 01 October.
