Nick Kyrgios has chosen where to kick off his 2018 season. The Australian player will compete in the ATP 250 Brisbane event, which starts on 31 December 2017, for the second time ever after that in 2012/2013 he lost in the qualifying draw.
Kyrgios joins Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray, defending champion Grigor Dimitrov in the field. Also, Novak Djokovic is very likely to play there: the Serbian player said he will start 2018 in the first week of the season in Australia, and Brisbane is the only event where he can play as Hopman Cup announced its field and he is not there.
It's unclear whether Kyrgios will play also in Sydney or Auckland in the second week of the year. On the women's side, Karolina Pliskova will try to win her second Brisbane title in a row. Organizers also Hope to bring in Serena Williams.
The tournament director Geoff Quinlan said last night Williams 'would always be welcomed back', at the event. She won twice in a row, 2013 and 2014. Serena aims to compete again in time to defend her Australian Open title.
