Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer cruise; Del Potro withdraws with hip injury- View: 1396 by Jonathan Morgan
Novak Djokovic was in ominous form in his destruction of Guillermo Garcia-Lopez. Nole served exceptionally and didn't lose a single point on his first serve. He hit 24 winners to just 5 errors! Garcia-Lopez was hit by a freight train today.
#3 seed Roger Federer also had a quick day at the office, winning 6-4, 6-3 vs. Xavier Malisse in just over an hour. Federer was very solid, but Malisse really does not have much to hurt Federer with, not like the lefty Feliciano Lopez yesterday.
Federer was especially good in the second set, and you never really felt Malisse was in the match. On a disappointing note, Juan Martin del Potro had to withdraw from his epic matchup with Rafael Nadal with a hip injury.
Del Potro suffered the injury in the first round against Mikhail Youzhny, which is understandable seeing as Del Potro had just won the tournament in Portugal on Sunday and was playing Youzhny Tuesday! A smart move for Delpo to withdraw with Roland Garros just a few weeks away.
