Tennis - World no. 10 Janko Tipsarevic has pulled out of the Rome Masters series event before his first round match due to bronchitis. The Serb has had a miserable first few months of the season and was only 10-8 in his first 8 events of the year.
His spot in the main draw will be taken by Czech Lukas Rosol, who lost in the final round of qualifying. Rosol, ranked no. 33 in the world currently, had to play qualifying since the cut off for the event is based on rankings six weeks ago when he was ranked much lower.
Rosol has been beaten in the first round of the event on Tuesday in three sets to another Serb Viktor Troicki. Rosol could have meet Rafael Nadal in the third round here in Rome had he reached there. The Czech stunned Nadal in the second round of Wimbledon last year in one of the more stunning upsets in tennis history.
