Tim Smyczek wins battle of Americans, Rajeev Ram loses. Sock wins in Atlanta- View: 2615 by Jared Lankes
On day 2 of in Atlanta it was again about the Americans and quite a few were slated to play. These included Tim Smyczek vs Ryan Harrison in the battle of Americans, Denis Istoman vs the American Rajeev Ram and Jack Sock vs Alejandro Gonzalez.
Two things were for certain however, that one American would win and one would lose. Kind of a double edged sword. The first match was Smyczek vs Harrison. Two Americans on the cusp of becoming players that can compete well in a Grand Slam but not quite there yet.
This was a good time to see them. The match eventually was won by Tim Smyczek by a 6-0, 6-2 score. A dominating performance by Smyczek. He only lost 2 games the entire match. If that isn"t dominate I don"t know what is.
In the other match it was Denis Istomin who was able to outlast Rajeev Ram in straight sets 6-1, 6-4. Ram was able to put together a better effort in the 2nd set but it still wasn"t enough to get him to a 3rd set. Istomin also put out an impressive performance.
Jack Sock is set out to prove that his run at the Hall Of Fame Championships was not a fluke. The talented American got that off to a good start today. He defeated Alejandro Gonzalez rather easily in straight sets 6-2, 6-4.
A very nice performance from Sock as he tries to climb the ATP ladder. He"s done a pretty good job of that this year and looks like he will continue to do so. The sky is the limit for Sock. .
