2016 Australian Junior Championships: Vuradin, Pearson, Walton and Jones move to the semis- View: 959 by Jovica Ilic
2016 Australian Junior Championship is just a 3 matches away from conclusion, with 4 players remaining in the chase for the prestige title and the place in the next week's Australian Open 2017 Play-off. Lucas Vuradin toppled Chase Ferguson 6-2 1-6 6-2, recovering from a poor performance in the second set to close the match with a strong finish.
His next rival will be the 4th seed Kody Pearson, who ousted the 3rd seed Mislav Bosnjak by 6-4 6-4 to reach the last 4. The 5th seed Adam Walton took down Matthew Dellavedova, the youngest player surviving in the draw, taking the opening set in the tie break and never looking back in a 7-6 6-2 triumph.
Scott Jones entered this event with a wild card but he has been enjoying a great week so far, as he is yet to suffer a defeat in 4 matches. Jones beat Benard Nkomba after a slow start, taking the control in sets 2 and 3 for the final 1-6 6-3 6-3 score.
This is his last junior event in a career, being born in 1998 (the other 3 players are from '99 generation), and he would love to go all the way here in Melbourne Park and take the crown. Quarter-final results: Lucas Vuradin (1999) vs [WC]Chase Ferguson (1999) 6-2 1-6 6-2
