The National Basketball League and one of its teams, Melbourne United, have been exploring the possibility of playing a home game at during the Australian Open, as understood by The Age.
United, a popular Australian basketball team, are playing their home games at Hisense Arena.
The team has been playing its home games at the State Netball and Hockey Centre during the Australian Open time in the last couple of years.
It would be a notable cost to convert the arena from a basketball to tennis court -- and then again from a tennis to a basketball court.
NBL owner Larry Kestelman is eager to showcase to competition during the Australian Open -- which gathers tons of fans from all around the world.
United are scheduled to play a home game against the Cairns Taipans on 14 January.
The Australian Open is due to start just a day after on 15 January.
The NBL, United, and Tennis Australia are set to make a "special announcement" on Wednesday.
However, what will be announced remains unclear.
It remains to be seen will United play a home game at Hisense Arena during the Australian Open this coming January - or sometime in the future.
