Elizabeth Anderson, women's tennis head coach at Elon University, announced the addition of the freshman Alex Koniaev to their 20016-17 roster, as the only newcomer in the squad. 18-year-old from Glen Head, New York, finished the Locust Valley High School, where she played with a lot of success, being a two-time MVP and helping her team to win Conference title in 2012, 2013 and 2014.
She also won Special Achievement Award 2 times. Alex never played junior events under the ITF or any pro event, due to her High School duties, but she participated in some 16 USTA junior events, reaching 2 quarter-finals in 2015.
She will have a chance to play for the Phoenix for the first time at Elon Fall Invitational, at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center, from September 9-11.
"We are looking forward to Alex joining our team," said Anderson. "She is going to make a tremendous impact here, both in the classroom and on the court.SOURCE: http://elonphoenix.com/news/2016/8/24/elon-womens-tennis-adds-alex-koniaev-for-2016-17.aspx ALSO READ: Estela Perez-Somarriba, Miami freshman: "This is what I was looking for, Miami is the best place for me" .
