Clara Lucas: 'Individually, I would like to give my best every day in order to make the team better'

Clara Lucas, a sophomore from Spain at Pittsburgh Panthers is preparing for the spring season, looking to make it even better than in 2016, when she had 7 singles and 5 doubles wins. She is from Valencia, where she finished IES Fuente San Luis High School, and she competed at Club Español de Tennis with some very good results.

The Panthers will open the season in just 3 days time against Duquesne, and Lucas found some time to answer a few questions in an interview for the official site, and here's what she had to say:

What made you choose Pitt?
The great education, the unified team, the confidence that head coach Alex Santos gave me and the staff that work the for athletic department.

What is your favorite thing about the team?
We are unified like a family and it is inevitable to have fun.

What are your goals for the season, both individually and as a team?
Individually, I would like to give my best every day in order to make the team better.

As a team, work better to overcome every day. With this, everything else will come.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?
Never give up. Suffer now and the glory will be eternal.

Favorite thing to do on an off day?
Hangout and talk to my family and friends in Spain, watch TV, movies and sleep.

Favorite food?
Paella (never got used to American food)

Favorite song?
All Good Things by Nelly Furtado

Favorite professional athlete?
Rafael Nadal

Favorite movie?
The Impossible

Favorite TV show?
La Que Se Avecina

If you could have dinner with any three people, who would it be?
Rafael Nadal, because he is the most inspirational athlete for me.

Angelina Jolie, because she is an amazing actress and inspirational woman. The third would be Simona Halep, because she is my favorite women’s tennis player.

If you were stuck on an island, what three things would you need to survive?
Food, a nice place to sleep and good company.
