Auburn Tigers had a successful doubleheader at their Yarbrough Tennis Center, beating Troy Trojans 7-0 and Alabama A&M Lady Bulldogs 6-1, improving the 2017 score to 11-1 and giving the head coach Lauren Spencer her 200th career victory! Both Troy and Alabama A&M were no match for the mighty Tigers, as both teams still search for their first victory of the season, and it for sure couldn't come against Auburn. Against the Trojans, Auburn doubles teams had to work hard but in the end they scored all 2 wins to take the opening point of the tie.

Sanae Ohta/Nancy Karaky brought a perfect start for the unranked team, beating Caroline Turner/Georgie Axon 6-1 on court 2 before the Tigers started to play better on the other courts. Alizee Michaud/Taylor Russo prevailed against Hannah Seizer/Alicia Rodriguez 7-5 on the main court and a few moments later Reka Muller/Roos van der Zwaan delivered the opening point for Auburn, upending Jiayuan Xue/Efriliya Herlina 7-5.

The Tigers claimed the first set on 5 singles courts and it was a matter of time when they will start to bring the matches home. Alizee Michaud defeated Hannah Seizer 6-3 6-3 on the main court and soon it was 3-0, after Alannah Griffin bested Efriliya Herlina 6-0 6-4 on court 4.

Caroline Turner clinched the 4th point on court 6, toppling Luisa Ferrauti 6-4 6-1, and after that her teammates made sure to blank the rivals, taking the remaining 3 encounters for a perfect 7-0 score.

Alabama A&M Lady Bulldogs were beaten almost more easily, despite they managed to grab one point. Auburn dropped just 3 games in 3 doubles matches and they continued in the same rhythm throughout the singles duels as well.

Caroline Turner/Georgie Axon tops Shrarre Smith/Beatriz Gutierrez 6-0 on court 2 and Sarah Beth Dolinger/Mary Katherine Lewis added another win on court 3, ousting Alyssa Williams/Jazmine Lawson 6-1.

Reka Muller/Roos van der Zwaan capped the doubles action with a 6-2 triumph against Virag Hollos/Rida Khalid on the main court. The Tigers were picture perfect on the lower singles courts, clinching 3 maximum wins to deliver the victory home.

Roos van der Zwaan beat Shrarre Smith on court 4, her doubles partner Reka Muller followed her against Jazmine Lawson on court 6 and soon after that Caroline Turner finished the job versus Alyssa Williams, all winning by 6-0 6-0, as the overall winner of the tie was never in doubt.

Alizee Michaud attached the 5th point, defeating Beatriz Gutierrez 6-4 6-1, while the remaining two matches had to be decided in the match tie break, and that was a chance for Rida Khalid to put her team on the scoreboard, in the only match that Auburn lost that day.

“Early in my coaching career, one of my mentors told me that to be successful, it’s all about who you surround yourself with,” head coach Lauren Spencer said. “I have really surrounded myself with a tremendous coaching staff, a fantastic support staff and my family and friends.

Most importantly, the girls that I have had the privilege to coach have been tremendous to work with. It’s not just my accomplishment, but it’s also an accomplishment for our program and what we are trying to do here with our program.

I just thank everyone who helped me along the way”
