Tennis - Kevin Anderson unsure of playing Davis Cup this year for South Africa- View: 2215 by Prakash
Tennis - Big serving South African Kevin Anderson has had issues with the South African Tennis Federation in the past over financial incentives to play for the Davis Cup. And it seems with his ATP ranking on the rise, the South African is unsure if he will play in their next Davis Cup tie.
Anderson is currently ranked at a career-high no. 22 in the world and aims to break into the top 20. Anderson's agent, Stuart Duguid, commented, "“Kevin is in an excellent position to improve on his record over the corresponding period in 2012, thereby lift his ATP points tally considerably." South Africa are scheduled to play Slovenia in an away tie on the weekend of September 13 - one week after the US Open.
Tennis SA CEO Ian Smith commented, "We have had no definite news about Kevin making himself available for the Davis Cup. The last news we had on the issue was Kevin saying he would decide tie-by-tie whether to play in the Davis Cup.
Davis Cup captain John-Laffnie de Jager was mandated to discuss the matter with Kevin at Wimbledon, but he has not reported back up to this stage.” .
