The United States has taken a 2-0 lead over Brazil in the first round of the Davis Cup World Group tie. In the first match of the season, Sam Querrey scored a straight sets win over Thomaz Bellucci. Querrey hit 15 aces in the 63 64 64 victory win in 99 minutes.

Querrey commented, "I thought I served great today the whole day. This is my first home tie. These Davis Cup weeks are so much fun.” Isner followed on with a 63 76(4) 63 win over Brazilian Thiago Alves. Inser was unsure of playing in the tie after hurting his knee which forced him to withdraw from the Autralian Open.

But he recovered in time and felt fit to play on the first day. On Saturday, the Bryans will hope to wrap up the tie when they take on Braizlian duo Marcelo Melo and Bruno Soares. .
