The SkiStar Swedish Open in Bastad is one of the best-organized ATP 250 events in the ATP calendar, and it began in 1948, with Ken Rosewall, Manuel Santana, and Roy Emerson among the early winners. In 1970, Bastad joined the Open era and it stayed a regular stop ever since, with the players like Ilie Nastase, Stan Smith, Bjorn Borg, Mats Wilander, Carlos Moya, Rafael Nadal, Robin Soderling and David Ferrer all lifting the trophy here.

Since 2002, Spaniards won 8 titles in Bastad, and it may well be their year this time around as well, with Pablo Carreno Busta and the defending champion Albert Ramos-Vinolas as the top seeds.

Carreno Busta will open his campaign against Andrey Kuznetsov or Jan-Lenard Struff, and he could meet Diego Schwartzman in the quarter-final. The second part of the draw is also very interesting, Richard Gasquet had to witdraw when the draw was already out and Karen Khachanov took his place as the 5th seed.

The Russian will have to pass the players like Ernests Gulbis, Alexandr Dolgopolov, Horacio Zeballos and Nikoloz Basilashvili if he wants to reach the last 4.

2-time champion David Ferrer has been struggling to find the right form, staying without a title in the last 2 seasons after winning 5 crowns in 2015, and if he beats a qualifier in the first round his next rival should be Thomaz Bellucci, who plays against Dustin Brown.

Horacio Zeballos, Pablo Cuevas, and promising Swede Mikael Ymer are also in the third quarter, and it will be interesting to see how far can Mikael go in front of the home crowd.

His older brother Elias Ymer kicks off the action versus Fernando Verdasco, while German veteran Tommy Haas drew Facundo Bagnis, in what will be one of his last ATP events on clay.

Dusan Lajovic, who won Bastad Challenger on Saturday, has to meet Thiago Monteiro and the winner of that one goes against the second seed Albert Ramos-Vinolas. Full draw:
