Tennis - Indian youngsters had a mixed day in the singles draw at the Aircel Chennai Open on Thursday. While 21 year old Yuki Bhambri made it through to his first ever ATP quarter final, 19 year old Ramkumar Ramanathan was beaten in the second round.
Bhambri scored his biggest win, even if it came by a retirement. He was leading third seed Fabio Fognini 6-1, 5-5 when the Italian world no.16 called it quits due to a left quadriceps injury. Ramanathan, who came through the qualifying draw, was beaten in straight sets by the Spaniard sixth seed Marcel Granollers 6-2, 6-4.
Granollers will now meet fourth seeded Benoit Paire, who beat Guillermo Garcia-Lopez 6-1, 6-4. Canada's Vasek Pospisil also moved on when his opponent, Yen-Hsun Lu, pulled out due to a right quadriceps injury. .
