Tennis: World No.1 and 7-time Grand Slam chamion Novak Djokovic suffered one of the worst loss in years as he was beaten 6-2, 6-2 by Jo Wilfried Tsonga in the third round of the Rogers Cup in Toronto.

This was Djokovic's first tournament after getting married and winning Wimbledon last month, in which he had beaten Roger Federer in the final in 5 sets.

Djokovic won just 4 games in the match, and this is his worst loss since losing to Nadal in the 2012 Monte-Carlo final, in which he lost 6-3, 6-1. With this loss, Djokovic's 11 matches winning streak against Tsonga and 40 matches winning streak against French players came to an end.

The Serb had also won last 18 sets he had played against Tsonga, winning last 7 matches in straight sets, including the wins in the French Open and Wimbledon this year. Another Frenchman Gael Monfils had strectched Djokovic to the distance in the previous match but Djokovic ended up notching 40th straight victory against Frenchmen.

Tsonga did not let Djokovic win the 41st match in a row. The Frenchman broke Djokovic in the third game of the match to go 2-1 up. He broke again in the 7th game and took the first set 6-2. Tsonga served 4 aces in the first set and did not face any break point as he ended the 18 sets losing streak against Djokovic.

In the first game of the second set, Djokovic had 3 game points but he could not hold his serve. Tsonga broke him in the first game and the third game to go 3-0 up. Djokovic held his serve in the 5th game but Tsonga kept holding his serves also, to go 5-1 up.

After holding his serve in the 7th game, Djokovic made one last effort as Tsonga served for the match. 27-year-old Djokovic had a break point but Tsonga held his serve to take the second set 6-2 and register one of the biggest upsets of the year.

This is Djokovic's 5th loss of the year. World No.4 Stanislas Wawrinka was also stunned in straight sets 7-6, 7-5 by Kevin Anderson. Anderson served 11 aces in the match to secure second victory over Wawrinka in the 5th meeting.

The 2-time Grand Slam champion Andy Murray reached the Quarterfinals without stepping on the court, as Richard Gasquet withdrew because of abdominal strain. Andy Murray will face Tsonga for a place in the semifinals. .
