Sorana Cirstea's momentum continues. After reaching quarter-finals in Beijing last week, the Romanian did the same in Linz where she defeated Natalia Vikhlyantseva on Thursday by 7-6(14) 6-4. The first set tie-break was extremely important, with Cirstea saving five set points.
In the second set Sorana was always under control: she needed four match points to prevail, though. On Friday she will face the top seed Magdalena Rybarikova, who defeated Carina Witthoeft 7-6(4) 6-3. In the second set Witthoeft led 2-0, then she lost six of the seven remaining games.
Viktorija Golubic continues her run. The Swiss player, who last year reached the final losing to Dominika Cibulkova defeated the qualifier Viktorija Tomova by 6-1 in the third set. She will face Johanna Larsson, who beat Varvara Lepchenko 6-2 6-3.
The Swedish was always under conttol, despite she got broken several times. Barbora Strycova struggled but advances. The Czech player defeated Jana Fett 6-3 in the third set. Strycova was cinical in the key moments, breaking her opponent in the sixth game of the final set and book a clash against Tatjana Maria.
