Former American tennis player James Blake believes Rafa Nadal will enter 2018 at the No. 1 spot.
Nadal, 31, is currently ranked at No. 1 in the world with 9,875 points to his name.
19-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer follows the Spaniard at No. 2 with 7,505 points earned.
Nadal became No. 1 for the first time in over three years when he made it past the now world No. 3 Andy Murray on the list.
Nadal and Federer have no any points to defend the rest of the season.
The 31-year-old is eyeing to finish the season at No. 1 for the fourth time in his career.
"It's gonna take a lot of faltering from Rafa," Blake told Tennis Channel.
“Roger can only control what he’s doing, but he can’t control if he plays Rafa in the finals. He’s gonna pick up points, but not enough to overtake him.
“I think Rafa’s got quite the inside track on the player of the year at this point.”
