Australian Davis Cup team captain Lleyton Hewitt has congratulated Rafa Nadal on his year-end No. 1 ranking.
The 31-year-old saw off promising Hyeon Chung in the Rolex Paris Masters second-round.
The Spaniard now can't be dethroned by world No. 2 Roger Federer before the season ends. 36-year-old Federer decided to skip the Paris event as he wants to be fresh for the ATP World Tour Finals. Nadal is set to finish the year ranked at the top for the fourth time in his career.
Former world No. 1 Boris Becker also gave recognition to the Spaniard following his another notable success.
Nadal has enjoyed a strong season so far.
The world No. 1 went all the way at the French Open and US Open, as well as won it all at Masters 1000 events in Monte Carlo and Rome. The Spaniard also made it all the way at the ATP 500 events in Barcelona and Beijing. Nadal is now hoping to finish the year by winning his first ever Paris Masters and ATP Finals championship.
