ATP World Tour Finals was the climax of 2016 tennis season, and the title match was to determine the year-end number 1 player, like in the best-written scenarios. Andy Murray took down Novak Djokovic by 6-3 6-4 to win the crown and keep his first place, which means he is the 17th different player since 1973 who finished the year as the number 1 player! Also, he is just the 4th man who achieved that since 2004, with only Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic who finished the season atop in the last 12 years.

Andy is now 905 points ahead of Novak Djokovic (he will lose the Davis Cup points next week), which is a nice advantage before the start of 2017 when we expect the similar battle between these two players, who are above all the others.

By reaching the semi-final (he had a match point against Andy), Milos Raonic moved to the 3rd spot, which is his career-best ranking, and with his triumph against Kei Nishikori in the last round robin match Marin Cilic is on a career-best position as well, ranked 6th.

Dominic Thiem and Rafael Nadal switched places in 8th and 9th, and those were the only changes in the Top 50. After winning the Challenger title in Montevideo, Diego Schwartzman gained 6 placed to be ranked 52nd, which is his best ranking ever, and the Austrian Gerald Melzer enjoying his best position too, in 68th.
