The South Korean Soon Woo Kwon won the Australian Open Asia-Pacific Wildcard Play-off men's draw in Zhuhai, China, to book a place in the main draw of the first Grand Slam event in 2018.
Kwon, the top seed, defeated fourth seed the Chinese Li Zhe 6-1 6-1. 'I’m really happy that I could win. I went through some tough moments recently, so the win gave me something good to end the season on a good note', Kwon said.
'I want to play Roger Federer in the first round.' Xinyun Wang took a women's wild card. Australian Open Tournament Director Craig Tiley sent his congratulations saying: 'It’s been an incredible week for both Xinyu Wang and Soon Woo Kwon, and we wish them all the best for January.
