It seems like Serena Williams has started her preprations to defend her Australian Open title in 2018. The former world no. 1, who gave birth to daughter Alexis Olympia in September will soon be seen hitting the practice courts soon again.
'Serena is already training in the gym to regain form slightly,' Williams' physical therapist, Ruben Mateu, told DPA.
'She is always motivated, but even more so now. If she returns, it is because she wants to win.' Mateu, who has been a part of Serena's team for a year now, will soon reach Florida to help Serena to be back in her best shape.
He is confident that it will happen. 'When someone’s muscles are so well-developed, it is easier for them to recover because muscles have a memory. It is easier to achieve results with that kind of person,' added Mateu.
'The capacity for recovery will be faster for Serena than for any other sportswoman at her level.' ALSO READ: Serena Williams appointed founding chairwoman of OATH's board of advisors .
