Stan Wawrinka: 'Becoming world no. 1 would be special for Roger Federer'

Stan Wawrinka could face Roger Federer in the quarter-finals at the ABN Amro World Tennis Tournament in Rotterdam. If Federer is able to reach the semi-final in the Dutch city then he will take over from Rafael Nadal as the world no.

1 in the ranking on Monday, 19th February. Speaking about the match-up and on Federer's chance to become the world no. 1, Wawrinka said, 'Becoming no. 1 again would be special for Roger, like everything he's done in the past.

It would be really special to see him back at no. 1. The quarter might be an important match but it's more important for me to focus on my first round.' About his comeback, which included a semi-final run at the Sofia Open, he said, 'So far I'm happy, I'm doing everything well.

I'm not at my top level, I need time for that. But I'm happy to be there, I'm playing three weeks in a row for the first time in six months. I want to be ready for this event.' ALSO READ: Roger Federer trains in Rotterdam, to play Bemelmans in first round .
