The Italian Open is confident of getting a roof built on the Central Court soon. In July 2017, the project seemed like it would take-off, but problems emerged.
The mayor of the host city, Rome, Virginia Raggi has now clarified that the project is still on. 'We managed to break deadlocks as quickly as possible in order to give the Centrale a further opportunity, to see sports also being played throughout the year.
We are working on it with the (Italian) tennis federation and the Olympic Committee, we can't lose focus on it, the city has to get people involved and the sport is an awesome way for it. The whole Rome city and all its citizens benefit from it,' Raggi stated.
