The French Tennis Federation has announced the list of wild cards for the upcoming French Open event which kicks off on May 26th in Paris. In the men's singles draw, French players Marc Gicquel, Nicolas Mahut, Adrian Mannarino, Gaël Monfils, Lucas Pouille and Florent Serra get wild cards as do American Alex Kuznetsov and Australian John Millman, who get the US and Australian reciprocal wild cards.
In the women's singles draw, Frenchwomen Claire Feuerstein, Stéphanie Foretz-Gacon, Caroline Garcia, Irena Pavlovic, Virginie Razzano and Aravane Rezaï get the wild cards while Australian Ashleight Barty and American Shelby Rogers get the Australian and American reciprocal wild cards.
For the men's qualifiers, wild cards were given to Mathias Bourgue, Jonathan Eysseric, Quentin Halys, Calvin Hémery, Jules Marie, Axel Michon, Johan-Sébastien Tatlot and Maxime Teixeira (all FRA) and to Australia's Nick Kyrgios while France's Manon Arcangioli, Séverine Beltrame, Estelle Cascino, Océane Dodin, Myrtille Georges, Amandine Hesse, Alizé Lim and Irina Ramialison were all given wild cards for the women's qualifiers.
Monfils is a former top 10 player who has been struggling with injuries over the past year while Mahut is best known for playing the longest match ever in tennis history. Razzano shocked world no. 1 Serena Williams in Paris last year while Rezai was once ranked in the top 15.
