In a latest development, it has been confirmed that the Duchess of Cambridge is now going to be the patron at the All England Club. Tennis enthusiast Kate Middleton is now to be the Queen of Wimbledon and will now be the person responsible for handing the trophies to the respective champions.

As a part of the announcement for Kate, it has also been revealed that the Duke of Kent who has held the responsibility and has been the patron in chief at Wimbledon will be given a final year before stepping away next year.

The 80 year old is the Queen’s cousin and had been the patron in charge at Wimbledon for the past 40 years. No further details have been revealed to the Wimbledon management as a representative of the All England Club was on hand to comment.

“They will let us know when the change happens. We will just be told. Until we hear otherwise I can only assume the Duke will hand out prizes as usual.” Also Read: Flavia Pennetta to Get Farewell During WTA Rome Event .
