A shoulder injury forced Caroline Wozniacki to withdraw from WTA Rome which will take place next week. The Danish player announced that she won't play in the Italian event on Wednesday, and she will be replaced in the main draw by the Japanese Naomi Osaka.
However, Osaka's partecipation is in doubt as she skipped Stuttgart and Madrid due to an injury. Last year Wozniacki, No. 2 in the WTA Race to Singapore, was forced to skip the whole clay-court season due to an ankle injury that influenced most of 2016.
If she recovers, she will play Strasbourg and Roland Garros. Wozniacki, who lost in the second round in Madrid, joins Agnieszka Radwanska and Ana Konjuh in the withdrawals list, they were respectively replaced by Monica Niculescu and Yaroslava Shvedova.
Sara Errani and Maria Sharapova will be awarded with a wild card. ALSO READ: Maria Sharapova's agent apologizes to Caroline Wozniacki and her family .
