Novak Djokovic has been open about his desire to capture the only Major tournament which has eluded him thus far in his career, the French Open at Roland Garros. The Serbian has proved a tough contender up against the King of Clay Rafael Nadal over recent years, reaching the Quarter-Final, the Semi-Final and the Final for 3 consecutive years from 2010-2012 - each year going a single win better than his best appearance at the event.
This year he lost to Nadal in the Semi-Final...in a match tagged the "Best Match Of The 2013 Season". Djokovic has achieved incredible results at Grand Slam level since he flicked the switch (as the phrase goes) mentally, late in the 2010 season, more so than he had before since his breakthrough years 2007/08.
At this stage in his career, he trusts his ability to perform consistently at Majors and remains confident that he will compete to his utmost best, producing awe-inspiring results; which will ultimately see him reach double figures in Grand Slam titles.
"What happened happened and everything happens for a reason.
Those losses that I had against Nadal in the big matches made me understand what I need to do to become a better and stronger player.
That"s all that matters now. I"m heading into the new season feeling great and hopefully this can be the year for me where I can challenge Rafa at Roland Garros.” - Djokovic. .
