Novak Djokovic says No to Davis Cup!- View: 9271 by Ivan Pasquariello
After being beaten by Stanislas Wawrinka in the quarterfinals at the Australian Open, Novak Djokovic has revealed that he will not be competing for the Serbian teams as his fellow countrymen will host Switzerland in Novi Sad for the first round of Davis Cup.
Bogdan Obradovic, captain of the Serbian team, has revealed the reasons standing behind the World No.2's decision not to play for his team: "Djokovic feels that he needs a pause. He is exhausted, both mentally and phisically, None knows what he feels in this moment better than himself.
Novak needs a lighter preparation that would leave him full of energy to undertake the rest of the season. We all understand him and stand behind his choice. We don't want him to get hurt or have an injury as it happened last year, so we will not want him to go beyond his limits.
Novak has already showed a million times how important it his for him to play for his team". Nice words coming from Obradovic, especially considering the venom that Davis Cup has brought in the past as some of the greater champions decided not to play.
