World No. 5 Maria Sharapova is hoping to put her dismal performance behind, as she gears up for the first tournament in Paris, after the Australian Open 2014. After facing an early exit from the hands of Dominika Cibulkova in Melbourne, the 26-year-old will look forward to respect her seeding at the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) event in Paris.
"I think it's a success in terms of that I'm back and that I'm healthy," AFP quoted Sharapova. "That's quite important otherwise I wouldn't give myself a chance to play," she continued further.
"So on that note, I have to look at the positives and see where I have come from in four or five months. I haven't played a lot of tennis in those six months. "I'm going to be showcasing the city of Sochi to a worldwide audience, and we will be doing a few segments." Sharapova has bye in the first round of the WTA Premier event, while she is scheduled to cross the swords with the winner of the match between Marina Erakovic and Daniela Hantuchova in the second round.
