Brazil's Thiago Seyboth Wild, 20, is being investigated by the local authorities for allegedly violating the quarantine rules while awaiting for the results of his coronavirus test, per Globo Esporte. On Wednesday, rising Brazilian star Seyboth Wild announced on his social media that he had tested positive for the coronavirus.

The Brazilian, ranked at No. 114 in the world, became the first tennis player to test positive for the coronavirus. The 20-year-old received praise from the tennis public for his courage to come out and publicly reveal that he was coronavirus positive.

In an interview with Globo Esporte, recent Santiago champion Seyboth Wild strongly defended himself from the accusations made against him. The Brazilian claimed this whole time he was making sure to avoid putting anyone at risk.

Former world No. 1 Lindsay Davenport was full of praise for Seyboth Wild on Tennis Channel as she said, per the AAP: "I really applaud Thiago for coming out publicly - first tennis player, that's not easy. But I know there's a lot of players going through a lot right now in Italy and Spain and France and I think, when this is all said and done, we're going to hear a lot of almost horror stories from a lot of these players of what they're going through right now.

"I think this will be a huge wake-up call to all the players, if they weren't already alarmed by this virus. "Or for the some of the players that were still confused over why tour events that have been cancelled for the next couple of weeks also."
