Roger Federer is excited about the upcoming edition of the Laver Cup that will be played at the Chicago's United Center from 21st to 23rd September 2018. Commenting about this year's event, the Swiss player admitted they have big expectations since in Prague 2017 results were amazing in all the aspects. 'Last year it was a success, even more successful than we thought it was gonna be, I was hoping for a big crowd and then the players were really pumped up to try to win,' Federer admitted in an interview to Tennis Channel.

'It was much more, and I thought it was wonderful. I think this year we do know what to expect and it could be even plus more. Bringing tennis to Chicago is something very exciting, playing in the Bulls arena...' Asked if it's the first time he would be playing in Chicago, Federer replied yes and then referred to the event promotion held in March in the city: 'I played with Nick (Kyrgios) under The Bean, but that doesn't count.

That was a small court and it wasn't a match, really. This is my first time and the teams are amazing, Novak (Djokovic), (Alexander) Zverev, (David) Goffin, (Grigor) Dimitrov. It's a wonderful thing and I hope a lot of people can tune in and the ones who can go to the stadium, make it an unbelievable atmosphere.' The Team Europe captain Bjorn Borg, an 11-time Grand Slam winner, said: 'I’m delighted to welcome Sascha, Grigor and David to Team Europe.

All three players have incredible games and I’ve admired them as players for a long time. Having them join Roger and Novak gives us a strong team with lots of options, combinations and flexibility. These players are all tough competitors, great fighters and have tremendous spirit.

Team Europe is shaping up nicely and I’m expecting an exciting competition.' ALSO READ: 'Tsitsipas' reaction to Djokovic win was normal' - Alexander Zverev
