There have been rumours about it for a few weeks, now the confirmation came. After splitting with Victoria Azarenka who is still involved in a legal battle for her son's custody, Michael Joyce became the new Johanna Konta's coach. It was the World No. 9 herself to confirm the news through a statement.
'Michael is a fantastic coach with a great pedigree and I’m really excited to work with him. 2017 has been amazing but I feel like there is so much more to come...the plan is for Michael to travel with me full time through 2018', said Konta, who split with Wim Fissette in October. She ended 2017 season early in order to recover from a left foot injury, which didn't allow her to fight for a place at WTA Finals in Singapore. She will start the new season in Brisbane, then will play Sydney before Australian Open.
