Only the number 1, the Spaniard Jon Rahm, will be missing from the appeal, because he is still positive at Covid.
Great expectations, after the triumph at the Tokyo Games (he brought the United States back to the top step of the podium, 121 years after the last time, in the men's individual competition), for Xander Schauffele (number 4 in the world ranking) who now wants return to success on the PGA Tour to put an end to a fast that has lasted two and a half years (exploit at the Sentry Tournament of Champions in January 2019).
With him, many American golf totems also have chances for the title such as Justin Thomas (reigning champion and king also in 2018), Brooks Koepka (signed in 2019), Dustin Johnson (winner in 2016), Collin Morikawa, Bryson DeChambeau and Patrick Cantlay.
There is also expectation for the South African Louis Oosthuizen, the Norwegian Viktor Hovland, the Northern Irishman Rory McIlroy, the Texan Jordan Spieth, the Californian Phil Mickelson and the Japanese Hideki Matsuyama (dominus in 2017), called to redeem the fourth place mockery at the Olympics.
