WAGC, Castelconturbia venue for Italian final

Big news in the Italian amateur scene: Castelconturbia will be the venue for three years (2022-2024) of the Italian final of the World Amateur Golfers Championship. The announcement comes directly from "Nextgolf", the event management agency of Marco Foi and Valentina De Simoni.

The declared intent is to raise the quality level of the WAGC to the maximum.

WAGC, statements

“When you go to play the WAGC World Championship - explains Foi (who is also the captain of Team Italy) - the courses to be tackled are difficult and prepared for professional level competitions.

I think it's right that our national final is held in a club that has nothing to envy to the best clubs in the world. We must select the strongest players to make up the team that will play the amateur world championship. Castelconturbia is certainly an ideal path to help us in this task ”.

Carlo Facchin, newly elected councilor of the Piedmontese club, points out that “Castelconturbia is committed to setting up a high quality match calendar. Nextgolf and the WAGC do not arrive by chance. Signing this multi-year agreement was a strong will shared by the president and the entire board.

We are happy and proud to host events of this magnitude ”. The president of the club, Massimo Medri, also newly elected, echoes him. “As soon as Carlo Facchin told me about the WAGC opportunity, I was very happy.

For my part, a big welcome to the World Amateur Golfers Championship comes from the Council and the club. We hope that this race keeps the expectations we all believe in ”. Already home to two Italian Open, Castelconturbia is a jewel designed in the eighties by Robert Trent Jones Senior.

It is spread over three nine-hole courses in a spectacular setting that every time, for those who play it, provokes strong emotions. The club has already had two of its representatives in the Team Italy at the World Final, respectively in 2015 and 2018, the brothers Francesco and Massimiliano Sforza.

The two were also instrumental in igniting the spark of the agreements with Nextgolf for the new, important, collaboration. The two realities will not be limited to the National Championship for the next three years but will extend the collaboration to other initiatives of mutual interest. an unmissable event for all Italian players.
