Golf, schedules and tournaments of the week

We are in the second week of August, the 32nd of the year, but even with the arrival of the summer holidays the major tours do not stop and keep us company even "under the umbrella" Here are the ones we can't miss.

Golf, schedule

Challenge Tour - Frederikshavn Challenge presented by HESSEL
From 11 to 14 August the Road to Mallorca travels to Denmark, at Frederikshavn Golfklub, PAR 72 of 6,507 meters, for the Frederikshavn Challenge presented by HESSEL.

This is the first edition of the event, so there are no records to beat or defending champions to challenge, but everything has to be written. There are ten races to go until the end of the Tour and, as we already noted last week, some of the first players in the ranking to get the DP World Tour card (the top twenty) have already moved on to the major Tour.

In fact, among the leaders of the Road to Mallorca will not be on the field: the No. 1 Jens Dantorp, the South African JC Ritchie, the English Todd Clements, winner of the recent Irish Challenge, but we will closely follow Oliver Hundeboll, who plays "in home ”, the Norwegian Kristian Krogh Johannessen and the French Clément Sordet.

Among the favorites playing for Denmark we will also see Martin Simonsen and Nicolai Kristensen. On the Frederikshavn Golfklub course, for a prize pool of 250 thousand euros, we will also see nine Azzurri: Luca Cianchetti, Lorenzo Scalise, Matteo Manassero, Aron Zemmer, Enrico Di Nitto, Federico Maccario, Filippo Bergamaschi, Stefano Mazzoli and, after three victories on the 'Alps Tour, also the young Gregorio De Leo.

DP World Tour, LPGA Tour and LET - ISPS Handa World Invitational presented by AVIV Clinics
From 11 to 14 August the ISPS HANDA World Invitational makes a stop in County Antrim, Northern Ireland.
Galgorm Castle and Massereene Golf Clubs are ready to give a warm welcome to some of the best golfers in the world.

This event, born only in 2021, is truly innovative in the world of golf and sport, with men and women playing on the same courses, at the same time, for a prize pool of 1.5 million dollars each. The champions will play two separate tournaments, with a field of 132 participants each.

As a tri-sanctioned event between DP World Tour, LPGA Tour and Ladies European Tour, the ISPS HANDA World Invitational will surely be one of the most exciting tournaments in world golf this year English Daniel Gavins and Thai Pajaree Anannarukarn will return to defend their titles at Galgorm Castle Golf Club and Massereene Golf Club.

In the first two days of competition, everyone will play one round each on the two courses, while the final two laps will take place at Galgorm. The first 60 players (more equal) and as many players of each tournament will access the 3rd round of the competition, before a further cut on the third round for only 35 participants.

To make everything even more exciting during the last two rounds, men and women will play in alternating teams. Joining Anannarukarn in the women's field are Irish LPGA and Solheim Cup star Leona Maguire, who will play in front of her fans for the first time since making history as the first Irish winner on the Tour Maggiore, the Northern Irish Stephanie Meadow, who won the ISPS Handa World Invitational in 2019 and the Women's Open 2018 Georgia Hall champion.

In the men's arena, alongside reigning champion Gavins, will be 2019 champion Jack Senior and recent Tour winner Ewen Ferguson, who clinched his first title at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters in March. Among the home players we will also be able to follow Galgorm Castle GC pro Tom McKibbin, flanked by Northern Irish Dermot McElroy and Cormac Sharvin.

The Italians on the field are: amateur Filippo Celli, two-time champion on the DP World Tour Guido Migliozzi, Francesco Laporta, Renato Paratore, fresh from an exceptional 3rd place last week at the Cazoo Open and Edoardo Raffaele Lipparelli.

The Italian players, on the other hand, are: Elena Virginia Carta and Giulia Molinaro. We will be able to cheer for them and see the tournament, from 11 to 14 August on GOLFTV / DISCOVERY + and EUROSPORT, with the comments of Isabella Calogero, Silvio Grappasonni and Federico Colombo on the following schedule: DATA GOLFTV - Discovery Plus EUROSPORT

PGA Tour - FedEx St.

Jude Championship
The FedExCup Playoffs kick off this week, August 11-14 with the FedEx St. Jude Championship outside Memphis, which hosts a PGA Tour event every year since 1958.
Tony Finau will be looking to defend the title he won last season in the FedExCup, in a very good time in his career and in his form, having recently won the 3M Open Tony Finau and the Rocket Mortgage Classic.
