ISPS Handa World Invitational for two events

Since last year there have been two novelties of the ISPS Handa World Invitational 2022. The first: the inclusion in the European Tour, which has now become the DP World Tour. The second: to associate a female event to the male event, which however, it is held separately and is recognized both in the LPGA Tour and in the Ladies European Tour.

ISPS Handa World Invitational 2022, schedule

It is played in County Antrim, which is located in the northernmost part of Northern Ireland. There are two courses used: one is the Galgorm Castle Golf Club, the other the Massereene Golf Club.

The two prize money, worth one and a half million dollars for both men and women, are the same. We focus here on the male side, that is, on the DP World Tour event. Which, it must be said, is not of its historical value due to the strength of the game (in fact, it is the typical event in which many are able to have their say) , but also and above all because we enter the week in which a new calculation system for the world ranking is implemented.

Very briefly, a different calculation method will be used for which all those who have passed the cut will get points, placing a greater emphasis on those players out of the first 200 places. There will be a sort of two-year interregnum between the old and the new way of composing the ranking, as the OWGR is notoriously on a two-year basis.

As for the participants, there are five blues on the scene. In addition to Guido Migliozzi, whose last tournament was the Open Championship, there will be Francesco Laporta and Renato Paratore (who, finally, has returned to roar with third place at the Cazoo Open) as well as two new faces for the continental tour.

One is that of Filippo Celli, who continues to take advantage of the long wave of the Silver Medal with invitations in the amateur block, the other is that of Edoardo Lipparelli, who tries with this experience to make up for a very gray season on the Challenge Tour .

If on GolfTv and Discovery + (Eurosport Player) the programming remains substantially the extended one, there are some changes for the linear channels of Eurosport. In particular, on the streaming platforms the first two laps go on from 14:30 to 19:30, the third from 14:00 to 18:30 and the fourth from 12:00 to 17:30.

This instead is the television programming: Thursday 15: 30-19: 30 on Eurosport 2, Friday 18: 15-19: 00 on Eurosport 1, Saturday 15: 30-20: 00 on Eurosport 2 and Sunday 17: 00-18: 30 on Eurosport 2.
