Omega European Masters, the darkness won

First the bad weather and then the darkness. In Switzerland, the second round of the Omega European Masters has been interrupted and the verdicts are therefore postponed. In Crans Montana, in the DP World Tour tournament, Spaniard Alejandro Canizares and South African Thriston Lawrence retained the provisional lead in the ranking with a total of "-13" strokes after 13 and 14 holes respectively.

On the Crans-sur-Sierre GC course (par 70), Guido Migliozzi climbs up among the Azzurri. The Vicenza player, with one round in 66 (-4) out of a total of 134 (68 66, -6) hits, is now 18 / o.

Behind him, on the "-4" after 15 holes, is Edoardo Molinari from Turin. Francesco Laporta also comes back, 54 / o with 137 (71 66, -3). On the "-3" there is also Renato Paratore stopped at 9, with still half a lap to play. While Lorenzo Gagli is on "+2" after 13 and risks elimination like Andrea Pavan, on + 7 after 13.

The amateur Filippo Celli is already out (143, 70 73, +3). While Nino Bertasio from Brescia was forced to retire. The Omega European Masters is a professional golf tournament for men that is part of the European Tour, which is played in Switzerland in Crans-Montana (every year at the beginning of September).
It takes place on a course with magnificent playing conditions in the middle of the Swiss Alps.

The course offers players wide fairways and greens that are particularly difficult to negotiate, redesigned in 1997 by the Spanish champion Severiano Ballesteros. The latter has also entered his name in the prize list of the event on several occasions, a prize list which also includes other great names in golf such as Colin Montgomerie, Ernie Els, Luke Donald, Sergio García or Nick Faldo.

The future of the tournament is assured with the renewal of the contract with the main sponsor of the tournament Omega, which extended its collaboration in 2012 for 5 years with the organizing committee. Before the Swiss watchmaker, the brands Canon and, even earlier, Ebel, assumed the role of main sponsor.

All editions of the Omega European Masters have brought their share of novelties, emotions and sensations. However, certain dates mark turning points in the evolution of the tournament.
