Team USA captain Stacy Lewis has chosen Angela Stanford as her third assistant for the 2023 Solheim Cup challenge to be held at Finca Cortesin in Spain from 22-24 September. Six-time Team USA member Angela Stanford, along with two other assistants Morgan Pressel and Natalie Gulbis, will work alongside Stacy Lewis and the top 12 American golfers to try to bring the Solheim Cup back overseas.
"I have known Angela for a long time and I am so happy she agreed to work with me at the Solheim Cup 2023," said Stacey Lewis, "Angela has a great eye for statistics, finding the small details that are crucial in choosing the best players and in creating the right combinations.
While we are preparing for the challenge to be held in Spain, I know I have three great people - and great friends - who will work with me and contribute their great experience ”. Angela Stanford has been an LPGA Tour player since 2001, where she boasts six wins, including her first major title at the 2018 Amundi Evian Championship.
She participated in six editions of the Solheim Cup, representing the United States in 2003, 2007, 2009 , 2011, 2013 and 2015. In 2015, Stanford earned the winning point for the US team with their 2 - & - 1 win against Suzann Pettersen.
