Bernhard Langer did one of the hardest things in golf on Saturday: finish a round with a number of strokes below your age. The German, who turned 65 in August, played in 63 shots in Boca Raton (Florida), the scene of TimberTech, which allowed him to embrace the leadership that he no longer released on Sunday, a round that he dispatched with 66 shots.

With his victory, he also extended the longevity record as the winner of a Champions Tour tournament (he had already beaten it twice) to 65 years, two months and 20 days and added his fortieth victory, placing himself just one behind Hale Irwin.
"This isn't just victory 44, it's doing it at home," said Langer, who has lived in the area for more than two decades. "Doing it in front of your family, your friends, your children, your grandchildren, and it's fantastic." Given the possibility of hunting Irwin, the German does not see it as easy.
"I'm getting older and there are much younger guys like Padraig Harrington and others who are very difficult to beat on certain courses. But where the driver isn't as necessary, we'll see what the future holds." Langer, with uninterrupted victories between 2007 and 2022, surpassed by one the sum of titles between the European Tour and the PGA Tour that he garnered throughout his long career in which he culminated in two greats, the two Augusta Masters.
Miguel Ángel Jiménez was eighth, 12 strokes behind the German. Bernhard Langer (Arnhausen, 27 August 1957) is a German golfer. Turning pro in 1976 he won numerous tournaments in both Europe and the United States.
Among his greatest successes are the 2 victories won at the Masters in 1985 and 1993. In 1981 and 1984 he won the European Tour Order of Merit, which is the ranking of the players who have won the most awards during the season.
In 2004 he was captain for Europe of the Ryder Cup, in the edition played at the Oakland Hills Country Club, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, achieving the victory for his team. Overall in his career he has imposed himself in 74 tournaments.
