The decision made by Cameron Smith to join LIV Golf was met with a lot of reactions from the golfing world. There was no doubt that the Australian could have expected this to happen, but he made it clear that he felt LIV Golf was the right place for him.
As a result of joining LIV Golf, there are some advantages as well as some disadvantages. However, Smith was able to see more advantages and made a decision to continue his story in another direction. The 'war' between LIV golfers and PGA tour players seems to be a topic of a lot of discussion in the media at the moment.
The situation even resulted in some friendships being broken due to it. In an interview with the Howie Games podcast, Cameron Smith denied that he had ever had a conflict with anyone on the PGA Tour. In fact, some of the friends he used to hang out with are still friends with him today.
“All the guys I was mates with are still my mates. No one has told me to p*** off or not talk to them ever again,” Smith on Howie Games podcast, as quoted by golfmonthly.com
Cameron Smith and his personality
Cameron Smith considers himself to be an easy person and does not want to be in bad relations with anyone.
The Australian believes that it is important for others to respect the decision that he has made. “I’d like to think that I’m a pretty easy person to talk to and if anyone ever wanted to confront me, I’m all about talking about it and making sure they’re comfortable with it as well.
It’s not my spot to step on anyone’s toes and that’s the last thing I wanted to do. It’s just a move I felt was right for my career”.
