There are a lot of golf fans who are looking forward to this year's Masters tournament at Augusta National. This is mostly due to the presence of Rory McIlroy. There is a real chance that the Northern Irishman will be able to win the Masters for the first time and thus complete the Grand Slam.

Rory's performance in the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play proved to be a great prelude to what lies ahead for him. As a result of his great performance, he finished third in the overall standings. As far as McIlroy is concerned, he took many positives from the event and knows that he played well.

"There are a ton of positives to take away. If you had told me I would make it to the Sunday of the Match Play last week I would have taken that," said McIlroy, as quoted by skysports.com

Rory McIlroy and his goals

It is clear to Rory McIlroy that this will be a significant opportunity for him.

It is up to him to give his all and to make the most of the opportunity he has. It should be of particular pleasure to Rory and his fans that he has been in such good form recently. McIlroy has a good chance of winning this race if he keeps up the good work he has done as of late and focuses on what he needs to do.

"I am maybe going to go up [to Augusta National] for a day and mess around. I went last week but don't think there is any harm in going up again and then it's about practice. I don't think there is tons to do. I think my game is in really good shape so just keep it ticking over, work on the shots I need for Augusta and away we go."

There is no doubt that the Masters at Augusta is one of the most important events on the calendar.

This is going to be a very tough competition, with many big names taking part. There can only be one winner at the end of the day!
