KLM Open, DP World Tour restarts in Holland

The DP World Tour restarts from Holland where, from 25 to 28 May, the KLM Open will be played. At Bernardus Golf in Cromvoirt there will be four Azzurri competing: Edoardo Molinari, vice-captain of the Europe team at the Ryder Cup in Rome, Guido Migliozzi, Renato Paratore and Filippo Celli.

The tournament, now in its 103rd edition this year, will offer $2,000,000 up for grabs.

KLM Open, schedule

Founded in 1912, it was won consecutively by two Italians, Ugo Grappasonni and Alfonso Angelini, respectively in 1954 and 1955.

It has been part of the European Tour since 1972 and the event includes, in the roll of honor, champions , among others, Severiano Ballesteros, Josè Maria Olazabal and Colin Montgomerie. This year, Frenchman Victor Perez will defend his title.

Third in the European Points List towards the Ryder Cup, in 2022 he overcame New Zealander Ryan Fox (this time absent) in the play-off. From the Polish Adrian Meronk, who recently won the Italian Open at the 'Marco Simone' course of the 2023 Ryder Cup, to the Danish Rasmus Hojgaard.

From the Dutch Joost Luiten, darling of the home crowd and champion in both 2013 and 2016, to the Spanish Jorge Campillo. These and many others are the favorites to the success of an appointment that can guarantee access to the US Open.

The KLM Open, together with the Italian Open, the Soudal Open and the Porsche European Open (June 1-4 in Hamburg, Germany), is in fact part of those qualifying tournaments for the third men's Major in 2023 (scheduled from 15 to 18 June in Los Angeles, California) which, through a special order of merit, will guarantee two places for the next US Open.

The Dutch Open is an annual golf tournament played in the Netherlands and has been part of the European Tour since its inception in 1972. The tournament was founded in 1912 and was originally known as the Dutch Open before a variety of sponsors led to frequent changes in the name of the tournament, since 2021 the original name has been used.

The tournament is currently held in September and in recent years has been held at either the Hilversumsche Golf Club or the Kennemer Golf & Country Club.
